The type and look of the cake that is chosen will also contribute towards the style of wedding reception that you choose. Traditional weddings may opt for the rich fruitcake, while others may branch out and use carrot, sponge, hazelnut or chocolate mud cake as the base for the cake design. Choosing a cake that can be served as dessert is a practical idea and opens a path for innovative designs and decorations. Though there are some restrictions to these dessert cakes as they don’t keep for a lengthy period of time that is required for any intricate decorating detail. A practical idea is to have a cake constructed of two layers. The bottom, heavier level being fruit which, if not eaten on the wedding day can be saved for the first anniversary or the first child’s christening and the top layer being a dessert cake for the immediate feast.
